Offering both Side Impact Cushion Technology (SICT) and True Side Impact Protection, the FRONTIER 85 SICT provides protection if you happen to face an unexpected side impact crash. Side Impact Cushion Technology, which is comprised of energy-absorbing cushions on either side of the exterior of the seat, reduces side-impact energy by 45 percent by diverting crash forces away from your child and providing extra protection for the adjacent passenger. The side impact cushions are designed to compress during a side impact crash, transferring crash energy away from the seat before it reaches your child. Additionally, True Side Impact Protection guards the head and limits injury by deflecting vehicle intrusion, absorbing impact, and keeping the neck and spine aligned.

Harness and Tether System Provide 360-Degree Protection

The FRONTIER 85 SICT provides an advanced design for crash force management and absorption. The Energy-Absorbing Versa-Tether features a staged-release tether webbing that securely anchors the top of the child seat to your vehicle at two points to slow forward movement, reduce crash forces, anchor the seat, and minimize forward rotation of the seat in the event of a sudden stop.

The energy-absorbing base and EPS foam liner are designed to absorb and distribute impact forces. In addition, the Harness Ultra Guard System (HUGS) reduces forward head movement and offers increased protection for your child.

The FRONTIER 85 SICT is compatible with SecureGuard (sold separately), which works with the safety belt in booster mode to prevent the child from sliding under the lap-belt portion during impact, minimizing the risk of abdominal injury.

Adaptable Design for Growing Children

The tangle-free, five-point harness allows for 10 harness-height positions -- up to 20 inches in shoulder height -- and three buckle positions for a snug, comfortable fit, even as your child grows. You can also adjust the head restraint with one hand using the quick-adjust lever and easily change the harness shoulder height without disassembling the entire harness. Plus, the convenient front harness adjuster allows you to loosen or tighten the harness system easily.

The booster seat can be used in the forward-facing harnessed position for children starting at two years old and weighing 25 to 85 pounds (the highest capacity in five-point harness systems). As a belt-positioning booster, the seat is suited for children from 40 to 120 pounds.

Easy to Install and Clean

Premium Lower LATCH Connectors allow for quick installation and feature a push-button for easy release. Color-coded belt guides indicate the path and positioning of the vehicle seat belt, further enhancing ease of installation. The FRONTIER 85 SICT also features an easy-to-remove cover that allows for easy cleaning without disassembling or uninstalling the car seat from your vehicle.

This is our 3rd Britax seat. We have had 2 Roundabouts and loved them so much for their comfort and durability and especially their safety ratings. After much researching, we decided to stick with Britax. Britax's website has a product video about this seat FYI. We just got our seat yesterday and even though I knew the width measurements when I ordered the frontier 85 SICT, I was still a bit surprised at how much wider the side impact cushion technology made this seat. Knowing the measurments is one thing, but actually having this thing in sight is another. We have a minivan with bucket seats, so this isn't a problem for us, but someone with a car may have space issues with a couple of these in the back seat. My 5 year old and 3 year old are the same weight and almost the same height (the 3 year old is taller!:) and they both fit this seat very well and will for a very long time. We all love the cup holders and arm rests and how EXTREMELY easy it is to adjust the height of the straps and take off the cover. My 3 year old fell asleep in it today and he usually doesn't sleep in the car, so I guess that means its comfortable. We love it so much that we are ordering another one today!
