Fiskars 23607097 Hand Punch, 1/4-Inch, Heart @SALE SHOPS
Cuttlebug Machine V2 (Misc.) Recently my "old" cuttlebug decided to pop apart while I was feeding through my next project, and it just bit the dust - there was no way I could get it to work properly after that. Now Version 2 has hit the market, so of course I ordered that one. Provo Craft has seen fit to NOT include Plate C in the basic kit - so you have to purchase that Plate before you can use your machine for the first time. What is up with that? They do include an embossing plate, though - one I could have done without. This version is basically like the first one, except the turning handle can be "stowed away" to keep it from sticking out, but that brings up an issue of the handle not turning as smoothly as the first version. The front and back fold down to make your feeding path, but those fold down pieces are not as long as those on Version 1, and my A & B Plates are always falling off while I am trying to make my next *sandwich* to feed through. So...I'll use this one for awhile, because I have to have a die-cutting machine, but I think I will start saving up for Tim's Vagabond...

However, it is missing 1, if not 2, essential tools. As most reviewers say, the spatula (not included) is the most useful tool for Cricut users - so why is it only sold separately? In addition, it drives me crazy that there isn't at least a spot in the case for it...it doesn't even fit in there loosely. I also think a pair of tweezers would be very helpful for picking up and affixing tiny pieces. I find myself stabbing at them with the sharp hook, then trying to carefully pry them off the hook once in place. I am going to go buy a pair of tweezers, which is no big deal, but for me this is just another tool that should be included in the kit. I have one other complaint, which is that I, like another reviewer, don't really know what some of the tools are for. Some sort of instructions or chart would have been helpful to me (I personally believe that the Cricut company could use some help in the instructions department anyway - I had to purchase another DVD, not made by their company, to really figure out more than the basics with the Cricut). I have not used all the tools, but find the hook and small blade the most useful. I will probably also really like the folding tool once I start making cards. I like the case the tools come in (I have had no problems with mine, and all pieces fit snugly). I think the Amazon price (less than $13 right now) is acceptable - I paid much more than this in a store.

It also has a comfy rubbery grip on the handles. Easy to use and pretty strong, can easily punch through cardstock (like index cards or greeting cards).Only one real complaint - it is kinda hard to tell where exactly the hole will end up. For example, it's hard to make a straight row of evenly spaced heart holes.There is a picture of a heart near the punch, which helps a bit with alignment, but you still have to "eyeball" it.Better alignment aids would be beneficial on a product like this.One last thing to note - if you push the paper all the way into the device (all the way to the joint) - there's a sharp spot near the joint that will nick the edge of the paper.
