Kenwood Kac-8105D 1000-Watt Class D Mono Amplifier @Review Shops
Chamberlain 956EV Garage Keychain Remote (Tools & Home Improvement) I was very disappointed to discover that my brand-new 2011 model year vehicle did not come with any kind of garage door opener/homelink option. In looking for a garage door remote, I had purchased another Chamberlain remote that worked well but I didn't like the idea of keeping a remote "loose" in my car (too easy for thieves to break in steal it while getting my address from my insurance and/or registration cards). I liked the idea of a keychain remote but it seemed like none of them were capable of controlling more than one kind of a garage door at a time. I called Chamberlain to ask them if they had any keychain remotes that could control more than one type of garage door and they recommended the 956EV. Boy, am I glad they did - this thing is great!!!!It's a tiny remote (almost identical in size to my key fob but lighter) and it can control 3 different doors. I programmed it to control my garage door (green learn button), my mother's garage door (orange learn button) and my sister's garage door (purple learn button). It could not have been easier to program (probably took me 3 minutes total for all three doors) and I love being able to open all three doors via a tiny remote on my keychain. I know that some people won't want to add anything else to their keychains but if you're like me and don't want to keep a remote in your car, this is the way to go. Kudos to Chamerlain for making such an awesome device.Before purchasing though, make sure your garage door is compatible with this device. It says that it will only work with 315MHz or 390MHz garage door openers manufactured after January 1, 1993 and your garage door needs to have safety sensors. It works with green, red, orange, purple and yellow learn buttons so chances are it will work with most openers out there but make sure you check what kind you have before you purchase. If your garage door is compatible, you will love this thing. I couldn't recommend it more highly.

A few days later, it arrived & I began experimenting with different ways to mount it. The more ways I tried, the more I realized how versatile of a mount this is. My mounting location of choice was the overhanging lip of the dashboard, above and to the right of the steering wheel. However, the dash is composed of sort of rippled, patterned plastic, and I seriously doubted that I could get any kind of suction cup mount to work.Amazingly, the "Smart Pad" that comes with this mount solves this problem perfectly, although it is not very well described in the enclosed instructions. The Smart Pad is simply a tacky, very soft rubber-like disc, which is placed between a non-uniform mounting surface, and the suction cup mount. Somehow, by applying suction against it from the suction cup mount side, the soft surface against the non-uniform mounting surface conforms to that surface and maintains suction against it. Once I figured this out, I successfully managed to mount my iPhone just above and to the right of steering wheel. I set it up so that it was easily visible while driving, got good GPS reception through the windshield, and was easily touched from my right hand, even while holding on to the steering wheel.But, how well would it hang on to the overhanging lip, and how long would it stay? The true test came right away: a drive from from Arizona to Alaska via the Alaska Highway - four days of normal road vibration, followed by about two days of rough roads with potholes, and frostheaves. The result: it didn't come off even once. I had to worry about mosquitoes, shifting trailer loads, and high gas prices. But never about my iPhone coming loose.A couple of weeks later, it continues to hang on tightly. No longer do I have to fumble around with my iPhone to change songs, or try to wrestle it out from in between the seats, where it's slid into on a corner.Overall, a convenient mounting option for the iPhone that is versatile, well-made, and easy to use.

If you read those reviews, you will see mixed reviews... on the good.. they praise the power and sound quality... on the bad they complain about overheating issues. I just installed this amp today... cant tell you extensive reasearch type info but I have a JL 500/1 to compare to. This amp says 500 watts just like my JL but for the stereo noobs out there... these are NOT in the same class... JL is higher end audiophile quality while this kenwood was made for budget-minded people who still want quality. This amp pushed my JL 12w6v2 just fine but I had a hard time getting the gain just right... I was getting distortion at higher volumes but it may have been due to my MP3 player being up too high. This amp did not make my car lights dim like the JL does and I dont have a capacitor either. I rode around for about 4 hours bumping the system with the JL sub in for about 2 hrs and it never cut out or seemed to overheat at all. The amp is fairly simple to set up... took me 2 hrs from start to finish and I had to run all the wiring in my GFs car. Overall great quality and for the price... I dont know if there are others that can compare... Highly recommended for someone on a budget(like most of us these days) who still wants to get a little more out of their system without breaking the bank.

If you read those reviews, you will see mixed reviews... on the good.. they praise the power and sound quality... on the bad they complain about overheating issues. I just installed this amp today... cant tell you extensive reasearch type info but I have a JL 500/1 to compare to. This amp says 500 watts just like my JL but for the stereo noobs out there... these are NOT in the same class... JL is higher end audiophile quality while this kenwood was made for budget-minded people who still want quality. This amp pushed my JL 12w6v2 just fine but I had a hard time getting the gain just right... I was getting distortion at higher volumes but it may have been due to my MP3 player being up too high. This amp did not make my car lights dim like the JL does and I dont have a capacitor either. I rode around for about 4 hours bumping the system with the JL sub in for about 2 hrs and it never cut out or seemed to overheat at all. The amp is fairly simple to set up... took me 2 hrs from start to finish and I had to run all the wiring in my GFs car. Overall great quality and for the price... I dont know if there are others that can compare... Highly recommended for someone on a budget(like most of us these days) who still wants to get a little more out of their system without breaking the bank.
