Soundfly SD WMA/MP3 Player Car Fm Transmitter for SD Card, USB Stick, Mp3 Players,iPod, Zune (Electronics) I bought this unit with a specific purpose in mind using the RDS functionality. I just recieved this unit yesterday and it is pretty impressive considering the low costs and RDS functionality.1. Sound - This is tricky. The sound is good using USB and SD cards as your source. However, the sound is great when you use the Analog input(2.5mm input I would have expected the sound to be better with USB/SD cards. I was blown away when I played my Sony MP3 player thru the input jack. It sounded great. 4.5 Stars here)2.) Power - This is powered by a 12v cigarette lighter plug. I wanted to use it in the house and power it from an AC outlet. I used a litte converter specifically designed for that purpose. On other units, as soon as you plug the unit into AC, you get a nasty little hum, and sometimes static. When this unit, it is very clean, no hum at all. Five Stars for that)3.) Ease of Use - This unit has a very simple display that can be cryptic if you don't read the instructions. It is easier to use via the remote control,than the buttons on the unit. Most notable is the equalizer display which also doubles as a Volume Unit VU) meter. The instructions don't mention that, but that is how it works. There is also a volume control on the remote, but not on the unit itself. You can save up to 7 FM freqencies in memory and use the remote to scan the frequencies, pretty cool.4.) RDS - This is the feature I was most curious about. The instructions say that RDS only works with the USB memory port, however that is not true. It also worked with the SD card port too, which was a nice surprise. The SD card hides away neatly. When you use a USB Flash drive, the flash drive sticks out and takes away from the compact form factor. The unit displays the name of the Song, track number and folder name. It also displays " Musicfly" intermittenly when a song is playing via SD or USB use. It displays "Musicfly" continuously if no song is playing. I am assuming this is an advertising splash screen from Sound Fly). Didn't see anyway to get rid of this.Here is another operational quirk not mentioned in the intructions. If you decide to use the Analog input, but leave a USB or SD card in the unit,t he unit will keep playing and displaying the Song information on your RDS radio screen even though the audio switches the Analog Source. My HP unit came with a built in tuner which could only receive analog channels and the 2004 version of MC that came with it only supported standard def TV. As the years passed, I was eagerly anticipating for a release of Media center that supported HD programming. Once that happened on Windows 7 (and perhaps Vista), I needed to find a tuner card that would work with it.Over the years I would check release info on new products and read about one sad experience after another regarding the failure of available HD tuner cards on the market and issues regarding firmware, drivers, configuration settings, etc.Knowing that most new technology needs a few years to get the bugs out, I didn't buy and waited. The last few months had me itching to try and finally set up a HTPC (Home Theater PC) system. When it comes to video quality, my assumption was that I'd get better performance from a PCI internal tuner card in a tower. Thing is, I don't have a new Windows tower but I do have an inexpensive netbook running Windows 7 Home Premium. As there's no way to install an internal tuner card I'm limited to using an external USB tuner. After reading the reviews on Amazon, I decided the Volar Max was my best bet (and at $55 I figured I could only go so wrong).I remember going through error and configuration issues with Vista and XP in the past, the idea that this little flashdrive-sized gizmo was going to allow me to tune in analog channels, digital channels as well as actual hi res HD seemed suspect at the very least. I was dreading the thought of experiencing the usual whole night investment of getting a new peripheral up and running on Windows only to have it not work well.I plugged the Avertv in the USB slot and it found & installed its driver automatically and quickly. It then gave me the option of installing it's own tuner/viewer software. I declined in favor of Media Center.Now I can't say how this thing works with any other OS's but, with Windows 7 Home Premium, the Avertv Volar Max blew my mind. My laptop is connected to an LCDTV- I fired up Media Center, which found the Avertv right away. When you open the box you get the X9500BHS, a trim piece, mounting cage, connector with wires, 1 USB cable, the Bluetooth mic with mounting clip, and the owners manual - this was everything I needed for my install. If you have a factory radio in your vehicle, odds are you'll need a wiring harness adapter for your vehicle and a dash kit. You should be able to find both of those on Amazon or at a local shop.The unit sounds great! I'm using the internal amplifier to power my Kenwood speakers and do not currently have a sub connected. At this time, I can only comment on the Tuner and Bluetooth audio as I haven't used the CD player, AUX, or USB connections. The tuner works wonderfully, and to my surprise, I'm picking up HD stations from as far as 60 miles away. Coming from an extensive audio background, I will say that HD Radio does not sound like a CD. It sounds good, but not THAT good. The tuner has the ability to blend HD and analog signals. It's a nice feature, but unfortunately there is a slight timing difference between the two signals, so when it flips you can here the audio 'skip' a little - this option can be turned off. I will say that I found a new favorite station that is only HD, so that's a plus. Being that the HD radio signal is digital, reception is all or nothing, just like digital TV, so if you're listening to a HD only station, you'll definitely know when you lose reception.The Bluetooth feature works great! I have a Samsung Galaxy S Mesmerize and it paired quickly. The only problem is my contacts do not sync with the unit - I think it's something with my phone. I use the voice dialing on my phone to make it completely hands free. The phone feature can be accessed while listening to any audio source, not just Bluetooth audio. When a call comes in, you can set the unit to flash different light patterns as well as turn the ringtone on or off. The contacts information all appears on the screen, so if you'd like you can ignore them. It also mutes whatever you're listening to. The caller sounds kind of funny - thin may be the best way to describe it - but everything is intelligible. I placed my microphone near the top of my A-Pillar and everyone says they can hear me, it
