Oster CKSTRCMS65 6-Cup (Cooked) Rice Cooker with Steam Tray, Black (Kitchen) This Oster rice cooker does what it is supposed to do, and that is to cook rice. I am from a South East Asian country so I know what I am talking about when it comes to rice. I eat rice everyday. This looks very durable. Nothing spectacular - except the fact that I like the color black which stands above the fleet of white or steel colored cookers.The lid/cover: The style of the cover made of a glass lid, is completely separate from the body. This actually has several advantages over rice cookers which has their covers built into the body:1. These are cheaper to make, simpler design.2. These are easier to clean. A LOT EASIER TO CLEAN, trust me.3. The cover is easily replaceable.4. Being glass, you can actually see the rice while its cooking.5. You can cook rice, while only partially covering the cooker. I do this so the water would not overflow.To those who might be wondering, aside from the rice cooker and the steam tray, it also includes a measuring cup and a plastic rice spoon, which comes standard with all rice cookers.PROS:+ CHEAP. CHEAP. CHEAP. -> the cost, not the build.+ Separable-style glass lid.+ Compact.+ (Subjective) Color black, nicer to look at.+ Includes everything you will need to cook rice, except the rice.+ WARMER feature. Let me just start saying I am usually very skeptical of buying anything without reading a solid review history in favor of a product so for me to buy this product was a bit out of my comfort zone. I just moved into a new home with a fireplace and was struggling to get one going with my fresh delivery of wood today.I hopped over to the local Home Depot to see what alternatives they had for just starting fires with very little trouble. I am familiar with the duraflame brand from just general knowledge but no firsthand experience so I was not sure what I was getting myself into so I looked up the product here (which is pretty standard procedure for me) but was astounded to only see one review for this product.Being in a pinch and with limited options in front of me at the time I figured what the heck. This pack of 24 was only $10 at my local HD (I have no idea why it is so expensive here so I would encourage you to look around first) so I figured I'd try it out. It far exceeded any expectations I ever had of it. Simple, easy to use, I lit the little brick and the thing just took off and I have a raging fire in the amount of time it took me to stuff newspaper into my fire.I now type this review after sitting by the fire the last 4 hours watching movies. I would highly recommend this to anyone, just not at the current $17 price here. Again, look around. For $10 at HD I'll have a few boxes of these on hand every year from now on.Now this product can have 2 reviews. I'll leave the 3rd up to the next person. Anyone?

I use it pretty often, but mostly for making popcorn. Turn temp to 350, put a couple-three tablespoons of peanut oil in the bottom, and then when the oil heats up throw in 1/3 to 1/2 cup of popcorn. Put the cover on and keep the pot moving while the corn pops. When the corn has just about stopped popping, turn the heat off and pour the popcorn into a bowl. Butter, salt and eat. YUM!I've deep-fried scallops in it, steamed vegetables, cooked rice, made soup and even baked potatoes. The thing works great! I wasn't going to write a review until I saw Alton Brown talk some trash about it on Good Eats. I got pretty defensive about my humble Presto cooker! He was doing a silly episode about "man food" like corn dogs and thin, square hamburgers. Well, when Mr. Brown was explaining how to fry the corn dogs he said (while holding a Presto mutlti-cooker) that a pot with an heating element on the outside of the bottom wasn't a good idea because first the element had to heat the pot and then it had to heat up the oil. Too slow. After that he displayed three home-use rectangular fryers with immersion type heating elements. He said they were also better because they each had cooking baskets and break-away magnetic cords. He picked the one with the digital controls, while implying that this was somehow better than the manual rotary temp control.I don't know if A. B. gets paid for product placement on his show, but I really thought he was being disingenuous regarding the Presto "pot." First of all, about the heating element on the bottom of the Presto cooker: During the frying demonstration, Mr. Brown had some text placed over the screen that said that if you didn't have a special electric fryer, that a pot on the stove-top would work fine. Isn't that interesting? What the heck is a pot on the stove, but just a heating element on the outside of a pot that heats up the pot and then the oil inside? That's exactly what he was criticizing the Presto kettle about. What gives? Secondly, the Presto cooker DOES TOO have a magnetic break-away electric cord to keep the unit from tipping when the cord is yanked by accident. Also, the Presto cooker DOES TOO come with a frying-steaming basket, which Brown implied it didn't have. Nya, nya, nya! See, I can be just as immature as Alton Bro
