This product is 3D-related. To help you get a great 3D experience, use the checklist below to ensure you have everything you need. 3D viewing requires:

A DisplayFirst, you'll need a 3D-ready display--whether it's a 3D HDTV, 3D projector, or 3D computer monitor. These displays have more processing power than standard 2D models for displaying 3D images in rapid succession. A SourceYour display may be ready for 3D playback, but you'll still need a device to read 3D content. This can be a cable box with a subscription to a 3D channel, a 3D Blu-ray Disc player, or a PlayStation 3 system. 3D Content3D content--the actual entertainment, in other words--will be played back using the source mentioned above, whether it's a 3D broadcast from your cable provider, a 3D Blu-ray Disc, or a 3D video game. 3D GlassesFor now, the vast majority of 3D HDTVs require glasses for 3D viewing. Many use powered "active shutter" glasses, others polarized "passive" glasses. You'll need one pair per viewer, and they'll have to be compatible with your display, whether they're the same brand, or a pair of "universal" glasses designed to work across brands. HDMI CableTo connect your source (such as a 3D Blu-ray Disc player) to your display, you'll need a high-speed HDMI cable. Cables with this designation feature bandwidth speeds up to 10.2 Gbps (gigabits per second), for carrying the 3D signal without any loss of quality. This review is from: LG 55LW5300 55-Inch 1080p 120 Hz Cinema 3D LED-LCD HDTV with 3D Blu-ray Player and Four Pairs of 3D Glasses (Electronics)
I took a change on the LG brand years ago with our washer and dryer and have had no regrets. Now, television is a totally different animal, but the LG brand has my confidence. For the price, you are getting an incredible amount of features.

I'm going to keep this review short and simple:

pros
- unbeatable value for the price.
- Energy efficient LED television even at 55". I've noticed it stays cool even in extended viewing periods.
- comes with 4 pairs of 3D glasses which won't break your wallet
- there is a mode that allows you to "convert" 2D programs into 3D. The results are mixed, and don't look as good as true 3D authored (or re-authored) content, but it's fun to play with and interesting to see.
- the package includes a 3D Bluray player. (I already have a PS3 so this was just a bonus)
- Because it is passive 3D, 3D viewings are much brighter than the 3D I have tried at my friends houses.
- Plays a multitude of video files off a usb drive. Sure, many TVs can do this, but this one supports a good amount of video formats, including MKV.

cons
- the depth of the 3D imagery isn't as deep as the Sony televisions I've seen. It's brighter and more vibrant - it's a tradeoff.
- I wish there was a way for the television to anti-alias lines and the edges of text. The text on my Tivo menus look way to jagged.
- the power and volume buttons on the tv are touch activated and there is no light to indicate whether the unit is on or not so if there is no video input, its tough to tell if the thing is on or not.
- I thought the speakers were weak on my previous 50" SamSung plasma, but these are BAD.
- This model's refresh rate is 120 hertz. The refresh rate was noticeable for me, coming from a plasma where the refresh rate is usually 600. It took a while to get used to.
- Turn OFF the Tru-motion feature that is turned on by default. This makes television shows look horrible, especially when the tv show tilts and pans the camera.
- DO tweak the advanced picture settings to reduce digital noise and to minimize the compression artifacts.
- the included manual is practically worthless

I bought this TV at the local Best Buy for $1399, but wanted to put my real-world review out there. I DID buy the extended warranty though, just to cover my bases. Even with that, the price was significantly lower than something comparable - the SamSung and Sony television prices didn't even include the price of the active glasses, which were almost 300 for a pair! Overall this is an excellent value for the money!
