This review is from: LG 47LV4400 47-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LED-LCD HDTV (Electronics)
The "cons" listed by a previous reviewer are exactly the reasons I purchased this TV. I already have all the benefits of internet apps with TiVo and Roku, didn't want 3D, have a good sound system, and only needed 2 of the 3 HDMI connections....so why pay for things you don't need or want? In addition, this 47" TV has many of the characteristics of previous LG models costing over $1000: Small external dimensions, light wight, 1080p picture, and low energy usage with LED lighting. The TV only has one component cable input that is shared with the composite input, so both cannot be used as a permanent connection, which could be a problem for some who may also want to connect an older TV component such as a VCR. Picture quality is great, using both the component and HDMI connections. Sound out the TV speakers is poor, but when connected to an external receiver via the TV's digital optical output, the sound is as good as can be expected, with surround sound out all 5 of my speakers. Of course with a cable box or any other TV components connected through a sound system, the sound quality has nothing to do with the TV, and all I look for from a TV is a good picture. I had to change some of the setting to get what I think is my best picture; for the component input, I left the settings as follows: Energy Saving = auto; Picture Mode = Vivid (with this setting, the backlight is set to 100, so the backlight can be changed by changing the Picture Mode); Contrast = 90; Brightness = 50; Sharpness = 97; Color = 70; Tint = R3; Color temp = Med; Fresh Contrast = High; Fresh Color = off; Noise Reduction = Off; Gamma = Med; Eye care = off; Real Cinema = On. For the HDMI input, the settings were similar, except HDMI seems to naturally give a brighter picture, so my initial setting was to leave the Picture Mode in Standard, where the backlight is set to 80.
