My chiropractor used this on me an \d I had to have it. I had sciatica caused by extreme muscle spasms in my back No pressure could rid me of the spasms but the thumper is different, and not for the faint of heart...it really gets in there and kneads the muscles...One thing I don't like is that it is loud, but anything to help the back It vibrates so much if you talk while using it you sound like you are under water! it has several raised areas that connect with the muscles If you can get someone to push while holding onto the thumper it is even better. actually it almost takes another person to help you use it because it is so heavy I lay it on the bed and lean into it,, but sometimes it vibrates so much it moves...still the best thing for muscle spasms..simply the best
